India's ambitious PM GatiShakti initiative has recommended 396 new infrastructure projects, collectively valued at a staggering ₹18.66 lakh crore, for approval, marking a significant leap in the nation's connectivity drive. This massive investment underscores India's commitment to upgrading its physical backbone, with 256 projects already sanctioned and 198 currently under active implementation. These projects, spanning crucial sectors like roads, railways, and telecommunications, are rigorously evaluated by the Network Planning Group (NPG) to ensure integrated planning and execution, a core tenet of PM GatiShakti 'Whole of Government' approach launched in October 2021. The overarching goal is to drastically reduce India's Logistics Costs, enhance business competitiveness, and foster Multimodal Connectivity, a strategy that has already shown results in improving domestic manufacturing and export competitiveness, as highlighted by the Economic Survey 2023-24. As these projects move from recommendation to full implementation, the focus remains on leveraging technology like the GIS-based platform for real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making. This integrated approach is critical for India's journey towards achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, ensuring that every rupee spent on Infrastructure Projects generates maximum economic output and delivers seamless connectivity across the country. The ongoing success of these initiatives will be a key indicator of India's development trajectory.
