The Aditya Birla Group has made a significant leap into India's booming wires and cables sector, officially launching its new brand, Ultravolt, with a massive ₹1,800 crore investment. Commercial production at its Gujarat plant kicked off on September 1, 2026, positioning Ultravolt immediately as the country's second-largest player by manufacturing capacity and signaling a powerful new challenger in a rapidly growing market. This strategic foray, housed under the Group's flagship UltraTech Cement, aims to leverage India's surging demand driven by urbanisation, electrification, and digitisation mega-trends. With the Indian wires and cables market projected to reach up to $35.58 billion by 2031, powered by infrastructure expansion, new housing, and data center growth, established giants like Polycab India and KEI Industries are now facing intensified competition from a deeply capitalized new entrant. Ultravolt has ambitious plans to become a top-two player within five years, initiating a broad pan-India distribution network across 500+ districts and 6,000 PIN codes, also tapping into UltraTech's existing 5,000 Building Solutions outlets. The company's commitment extends beyond sales, with plans to train over 40,000 electricians under the Skill India Programme, highlighting a holistic approach to market penetration and development.
