Indian Railways is currently piloting a groundbreaking AI-powered parcel logistics platform developed by ROQIT, an AION-Tech Solutions company, in collaboration with the South Central Railway, marking a significant step towards modernizing the nation's vast transportation network. This system aims to create a fully digital, sustainable, and customer-centric delivery ecosystem for lightweight to medium-weight parcels, addressing long-standing inefficiencies. The partnership, spearheaded by ROQIT Chief Product Officer Bhanutej Mallangi, tackles the challenge of managing thousands of daily logistics decisions by leveraging AI for real-time tracking, predictive scheduling, and instant booking. Current supply chains often rely on fragmented data, leading to delays and amplified risks, but this new platform is designed to close those gaps, enhancing efficiency and boosting overall supply chain resilience. Experts like Gartner emphasize that 2026 is pivotal for integrating advanced AI, including Agentic AI and Physical AI, to build more autonomous and adaptive operations, with AI-driven demand forecasting alone potentially reducing errors by up to 50%. Following the successful pilot, ROQIT and Indian Railways plan a nationwide rollout, which is expected to integrate EV-based fleet operators for zero-emission first- and last-mile connectivity, aligning with India's Net-Zero vision. This transformation will establish a marketplace model allowing customers to choose logistics partners based on cost, speed, and sustainability, fundamentally redefining how India uses its rail network for parcel transport and setting a precedent for other sectors seeking to leverage AI for operational excellence and environmental responsibility.
