Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has significantly expanded its academic footprint, granting affiliation to five new colleges for the 2026-27 session and adding 930 new seats for students across Uttar Pradesh. This move injects 450 fresh spots into popular BTech streams like Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, and Electronics and Computer Engineering, alongside 480 seats in business and computer applications programs such as BBA, MBA, MCA, and BCA. This expansion comes as AKTU responds to surging demand for professional courses, particularly in cutting-edge tech fields like AI and machine learning, a trend highlighted by AKTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. JP Pandey. Four of these newly affiliated institutions are located in the rapidly developing Gautam Buddh Nagar region, with one in Hapur, aligning with the university's broader strategy to strengthen academic offerings and embrace the New Education Policy 2020. The university is also actively pushing for more interdisciplinary courses and practical exposure through initiatives like a new second campus in Barabanki and structured internship programs. Students vying for these new opportunities are currently navigating the Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling (UPTAC) 2026 process, with Round 1 choice filling for BTech admissions closing on July 16 and seat allotment results expected on July 18. This ongoing push for increased capacity and modernized curriculum signals AKTU commitment to preparing students for future industry demands, emphasizing skill development and access to higher education throughout the state.
