Andhra Pradesh is making headlines as Minister Nara Lokesh recently laid the foundation stone for Dalmia Bharat massive INR 3,100 crore expansion in the YSR Kadapa district, a move he says demonstrates strong industrial confidence in the state's economic trajectory. This ambitious project aims to double Dalmia's production capabilities and will focus on creating 'green cement', positioning Andhra Pradesh as a hub for sustainable industrial growth. Lokesh highlighted that the state has successfully attracted a quarter of India's total industrial investment in the last two years, signalling a robust and investor-friendly environment. Dalmia Bharat significant investment will see its clinker capacity surge from 2.5 million tonnes to 6.1 million tonnes annually and cement capacity jump from 3.6 million tonnes to 9.6 million tonnes, set for commissioning by Q3 FY28. This expansion is projected to generate roughly 700 to 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, further boosting local employment and supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The state government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, attributes this success to its 'Speed of Doing Business' and stable policy framework, which encourages existing companies like Dalmia to reinvest and grow. Looking ahead, Lokesh actively invited Dalmia Bharat to expand its collaboration with Andhra Pradesh, particularly in skill development initiatives, aligning with the state's focus on preparing its youth for industrial jobs. This partnership would complement existing government programs like those by the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), which aim to bridge the gap between industry needs and workforce skills. The Dalmia project, with its commitment to operate on over 80% renewable energy and implement waste heat recovery systems, sets a benchmark for future sustainable industrialisation in the region.
