In a move set to empower developers globally, AI semiconductor pioneer DEEPX and edge AI hardware specialist Sixfab have teamed up to launch the 'DEEPX AI HAT' for Raspberry Pi 5. This new expansion board brings high-performance, ultra-low-power AI capabilities directly to the popular mini-computer, freeing complex AI tasks from the need for constant cloud connection and speeding up applications in areas like robotics and smart automation. This partnership arrives amidst a significant industry shift towards Edge AI and Physical AI, where processing data closer to its source is critical for privacy, speed, and efficiency. Previously, many AI applications relied heavily on cloud servers for 'inference' – the process where AI models make decisions. However, the rising costs, latency issues, and data privacy concerns associated with cloud-based AI have accelerated the demand for on-device solutions. The DEEPX AI HAT, powered by DEEPX advanced NPU technology, addresses these challenges by enabling local, real-time AI processing for a wide range of uses, from smart cameras to industrial systems. The immediate impact will be a lower barrier for developers to build and deploy advanced AI solutions, thanks to the ready-to-use Starter Kit and SDKs being rolled out. DEEPX has also expressed its ambition to make its NPU technology a global standard for Physical AI, indicating future collaborations across industries. This launch not only strengthens Raspberry Pi position in the industrial and AI integration markets but also propels the vision of AI becoming more accessible and truly 'physical' in our everyday devices.
