In a truly landmark moment for cancer treatment, Moderna and Merck have announced positive top-line results from their Phase 3 clinical trial for a personalized mRNA cancer vaccine, Intismeran, combined with Merck blockbuster immunotherapy Keytruda. The combination therapy significantly improved recurrence-free survival (RFS) and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) in patients with high-risk melanoma after their tumors were surgically removed, solidifying earlier Phase 2b data that showed a 49% reduction in the risk of recurrence or death.
