Unlike conventional diesel, which often thickens and clogs fuel filters in extreme sub-zero conditions, XWG diesel ensures uninterrupted mobility for combat and logistics vehicles crucial for border security. Developed jointly by the Indian Army and domestic Oil Marketing Companies like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, this specialized fuel eliminates dangerous makeshift practices previously used to keep vehicles running, thereby boosting troop safety and morale in critical areas such as Ladakh and the northern frontiers. The launch marks a major stride for the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, showcasing India's growing self-reliance in defense technology. Compliant with modern BS-VI standards and IS 1460:2025 specifications, XWG diesel can be directly used in the Army's existing vehicle fleet without any modifications, opening doors for its wider civilian application in severe winter regions and paving the way for further specialized fuel advancements.
