Gujarat Breaks Financial Barriers for NCC Cadets, Opens National Stage to All

In a game-changing move for young aspiring leaders, the Gujarat government has announced it will now fully cover the costs for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from private schools and colleges attending national-level camps. This decision, spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and announced on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, ensures that no cadet's financial background or institution type will hinder their chance to represent Gujarat on the national stage. Previously, only cadets from government-run institutions received financial support for these prestigious national camps, leaving those from private schools and colleges to bear their own expenses. This created an unfair hurdle, potentially stopping talented cadets from participating in competitive events like the Republic Day Contingent (RDC), Thal Sainik Camp (TSC), and Youth Exchange Programme (YEP), despite their hard work and ability. The new policy aims to level the playing field, making sure that passion and skill, not wallets, decide who gets to shine. The Gujarat government commitment, also backed by Education Minister Pradyuman Vaja and Minister of State for Education Trikam Chhanga, includes covering 100% of eligible expenses, from travel to daily allowances. This initiative is expected to boost participation and morale among Gujarat's 75,000 NCC cadets, with the state already planning to increase this number to 85,000. It follows other recent investments, such as the NCC Leadership Academy in Navli, showing a clear focus on youth development and nation-building through the NCC.
