Haryana Bags Rs 10,000 Cr 'Zero-CBAM' Green Hub Deal with Avaada in Hisar

In a strategic move set to reshape India's green manufacturing landscape, the Avaada Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Haryana government to develop a 300-acre 'Zero-CBAM Green Industrial Campus' in Hisar, pledging an investment of around Rs 10,000 crore and promising over 5,000 new jobs. This groundbreaking project aims to position Hisar as a hub for low-carbon manufacturing, powered entirely by reliable, round-the-clock Renewable Energy, helping Indian industries meet increasingly stringent global sustainability standards. The timing is critical, as the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) officially entered its fully operational phase in January 2026, imposing carbon costs on imports like steel, aluminum, and hydrogen. This mechanism is designed to prevent 'Carbon Leakage' and is a key part of the European Green Deal. India has voiced concerns about CBAM impact on its exports; thus, a 'Zero-CBAM' facility offers a crucial competitive edge for Indian manufacturers targeting European markets. The Haryana Enterprises Promotion Centre (HEPC) is stepping in to facilitate this development, offering a Single-Window Mechanism for approvals and exploring customized incentives. Looking ahead, the Haryana government and Avaada Group plan to host international Investment Roadshows in Europe and Asia to attract anchor investors and technology partners to the campus, signaling a proactive approach to green industrialization. This project also complements Hisar larger development plans, including a 3,000-acre Industrial Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) near Maharaja Agrasen Airport, setting the stage for the region to become a significant manufacturing and green energy hub. Haryana is further bolstering its green credentials by preparing a new Green Hydrogen Policy, alongside the development of India's first mega Green Hydrogen project in Panipat, underscoring a statewide push for a sustainable, low-carbon economy.
