In a significant move combining technology with traditional values, experts from IIT Delhi Biogas Development Training Centre (BDTC) are now providing crucial technical support for a massive expansion of biogas plants across Uttar Pradesh. This initiative is a core part of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's ambitious Cow Protection Campaign, aiming to transform rural areas by developing 'model village' and ensuring clean cooking fuel and sustainable agriculture. The first phase has already seen 18 biogas plants successfully established in Palinda village, Jhansi, paving the way for a statewide rollout. This partnership isn't just about energy; it's a strategic push to boost Uttar Pradesh rural economy, reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers, and promote natural farming. By converting cow dung into biogas and high-quality organic manure, the program addresses multiple challenges, from waste management and pollution to farmer income and energy security. The state government plans to convert thousands of cow shelters into organic fertilizer production centers and install mini biogas units in over a lakh rural households, integrating livestock protection with modern sustainable practices. Looking ahead, this collaboration is poised to create a blueprint for a 'Self-Reliant Uttar Pradesh' that resonates with the broader 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' vision. The goal is to extend this model to every district, fostering self-sufficiency in energy and agriculture while generating employment opportunities for rural youth. As India's biogas sector sees substantial investment and policy support, Uttar Pradesh proactive approach, backed by IIT Delhi expertise, could set a national example for sustainable rural development.
