Indian electronics firm Plumage Solutions is teaming up with China's Huntkey to kickstart local manufacturing of power adapters, chargers, and power supplies for IT hardware in Puducherry, India, starting next month. This strategic partnership, announced between September 21-23, 2026, marks a significant step in India's journey to become a global electronics manufacturing hub, with an ambitious initial production target of one million units annually. This collaboration perfectly aligns with the Indian government's 'Make in India' initiative and directly benefits from the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme 2.0 for IT Hardware, which aims to boost domestic production and reduce import reliance. By blending Huntkey global technology and product range with Plumage's local manufacturing and ecosystem knowledge, the venture seeks to localise the supply chain, including crucial components like Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) and EMI shielding, positioning India as a competitive sourcing destination for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) worldwide. Looking ahead, the partners plan to expand the types and volumes of power products made in India, aiming for a deeper integration of the entire manufacturing value chain. This move is expected to create new jobs and enhance skill development in the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector, reinforcing India's strategic push for self-reliance and global competitiveness in electronics. The coming months will show how quickly they can scale up and attract more related investments.
