Pilot programs, like Anand Jain's 16-acre farm in Madhya Pradesh, have demonstrated impressive results, with some crops yielding better under shade and farmers earning significantly more from electricity sales and diversified produce. Looking ahead, the potential for agrivoltaics in India is enormous, with estimates suggesting capacity between 1,192 GW and 2,129 GW, particularly in states rich in cropland and solar resources. However, overcoming high upfront capital costs, ensuring fair financing models, and establishing clear policy frameworks remain crucial for widespread adoption. As India moves to standardize definitions and streamline governance, the nation is positioning itself to lead a global revolution in sustainable agriculture and decentralized solar energy, proving that progress in food and power don't have to be a zero-sum game.
