India's Initial Public Offering (IPO) market is hitting a new stride, with a robust pipeline of over 245 companies eyeing public listings, signaling strong investor confidence and a resilient economy. According to a recent report by Equirus, 175 firms currently hold valid SEBI observations for their Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) documents, while another 70 are actively awaiting the market regulator's green light. This significant activity marks a mainboard issuance high for the past three years, both in terms of deal count and the sheer amount of money raised. This surge comes after a period of global uncertainty, with a notable rebound in June 2026 partly due to eased macroeconomic concerns following the US-Iran ceasefire framework. Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) have also made a comeback, turning net buyers in July after four months of outflows, pumping over ₹15,157 crore into Indian equities. This influx, coupled with strong Domestic Institutional Investor (DII) participation, is fueling the primary market. Interestingly, mid-sized IPOs, particularly those raising between ₹1,000-1,500 crore, have been standout performers, reflecting a clear investor preference for companies with strong earnings visibility over speculative smaller offerings. Looking ahead, August is set to be a busy month, with over two dozen companies planning to raise approximately ₹35,000 crore, including highly anticipated listings from new-age players like PhonePe and Zepto. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has also provided some breathing room by extending the validity of IPO approvals expiring between April and September 2026 until September 30, offering flexibility to companies navigating market conditions. As this robust pipeline continues to build, watch for major players like NSE and Reliance Jio, whose IPO are eagerly awaited, to further shape India's dynamic capital market landscape.
