Get ready for a hiring sprint: India's white-collar job market is set for significant expansion in the second half of 2026, with nearly four out of five HR leaders predicting new jobs will be created. A whopping 97% of these leaders also expect overall hiring activity to continue steadily through the July-December period, signalling robust confidence despite global economic ripples. This optimistic outlook, highlighted in a recent Naukri survey, suggests that career opportunities are on a strong upward curve for professionals across the country. The positive sentiment is strongest in key sectors like real estate, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and IT and technology, which are leading the charge in anticipating fresh roles. Business development and marketing functions are particularly hot, expected to see the highest recruitment, while a surprising twist sees Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerging as a job creator, not a destroyer, with many HR executives expecting it to open up new positions, especially in IT and analytics. However, the biggest challenge remains matching job seekers with the right skills for these evolving roles, pushing companies to focus on continuous skill development. As the Indian economy continues its impressive growth trajectory, outpacing many global counterparts, the focus now shifts to how well the workforce can adapt to these new demands. Recruiters will be actively seeking talent for early-career to mid-career roles, especially in BFSI, healthcare, and IT. Companies are investing more in automation and digital tools, emphasizing a shift towards skills-based hiring and expanding their search beyond big cities to Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns. This means that while opportunities are abundant, professionals must prioritize upskilling to stay relevant and grab the many new roles emerging.
