Krishnagiri Pushes for Special Camps to Issue Birth Certificates for Vulnerable Kids

The School Education Department in Tamil Nadu has urgently called upon the Krishnagiri District Administration to organize special camps dedicated to issuing birth certificates, particularly targeting tribal and non-tribal children in the remote hilly panchayats. This critical drive aims to reach communities in blocks like Kelamangalam, Shoolagiri, and Bargur, where many children currently lack this essential document. This initiative is vital because the absence of a birth certificate creates significant hurdles for children, impacting their ability to enroll in schools, especially for crucial exams like the Class 10 board exams, and preventing them from accessing various government welfare schemes. Many residents, including Irula tribals and other caste Hindus, remain unaware of the application process, often due to home births and geographical isolation. The push comes after Krishnagiri Collector C Dinesh Kumar recent successful drive saw 153 tribal children in Bettamugilalam panchayat finally receive their birth certificates. Looking ahead, the Revenue Department and School Education Department officials are set to collaborate closely, collecting necessary details to facilitate these special camps. Additionally, there's a recognized need for a parallel drive to issue Aadhaar card with mobile units specifically for tribal areas, ensuring comprehensive identification and access to services. This coordinated effort is expected to be a game-changer, opening doors for hundreds of children and reinforcing their fundamental rights.
