Jammu and Kashmir top leader, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has given clear orders: make pilgrim safety the main priority for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. This pilgrimage has already seen over 300,000 people in just 12 days. The L-G wants officials to be extra careful, especially because of the big crowds and the challenging weather in the mountains. The pilgrimage this year, from July 3 to August 28, has much stricter safety rules. This change came after a terrorist attack in 2025 and deadly flash floods last year near Vaishno Devi. Now, pilgrims must travel in groups with security protection, and private vehicles cannot go to the main camps. Many security groups like the Indian Army, CAPF, CISF, and J&K Police are working together to keep the main highway safe. The government is also very clear: only pilgrims who have registered and have a valid permit will be allowed to travel, following rules set by the Supreme Court to manage crowd size. As the Yatra continues, officials are told to watch weather forecasts from the Meteorological Department very closely. Special Mountain Rescue Teams are ready in different spots to help quickly if there are any problems. New systems, like the PEHCHAAN QR code for service providers, are helping to make sure everything is clear and trustworthy. The government is focused on working together smoothly and making sure everyone follows the rules for a safe and spiritual journey.
