Medical Interns Face Grilling in West Bengal's Sebaashray Health Camp 'Scam' Probe

Medical interns and students who participated in the controversial Sebaashray health camps, organized by Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee, are now facing intense questioning by the West Bengal Health Department and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). This critical development follows West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari recent assertion in the Assembly that these camps were a 'big scam,' showcasing photographs of patients allegedly suffering severe injuries, including limb amputations, after receiving treatment. The allegations have escalated into a major political and legal showdown, with CM Adhikari, now leading the state after defeating Mamata Banerjee in the 2026 assembly elections, directly implicating Abhishek Banerjee. Multiple FIR have already been lodged against Banerjee and his associates, with specific complaints detailing alleged medical negligence, the use of expired medicines, and unauthorized deployment of government medical equipment like X-ray and USG machines at these camps, which were launched in 2025.
