NEET-PG Exam Rocked by Technical Glitches in Jaipur, Thousands Face Re-Exam

Thousands of medical aspirants for the critical NEET-PG 2026 examination faced chaos and protests on August 30 after severe technical disruptions, primarily power failures and repeated computer shutdowns, marred their test at two centres in Jaipur. Over 2,400 candidates were directly impacted by these glitches, prompting the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to swiftly announce a re-examination for them on September 5, 2026. The disruptions, which saw computers stopping midway and screens going blank repeatedly, occurred at iON Digital Zone centres in Sitapura and have been officially attributed to 'internal power supply issues' by the examination's technological partner, TCS Ltd. This incident amplifies concerns around the reliability of digital infrastructure for high-stakes national exams, especially as students invest years of preparation and significant fees. Amidst the frustration, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has clarified that the technical issues did not involve any paper leak, debunking social media rumours. As the affected candidates prepare for their re-examination on September 5, the NBEMS is reportedly holding an immediate meeting to determine action against TCS Ltd. and other agencies responsible for ensuring adequate examination centre infrastructure. This incident, coupled with a similar glitch at the same Jaipur centre during an AIIMS recruitment re-examination just a day later, highlights a pressing need for robust technical audits and accountability to safeguard the future of countless aspirants relying on seamless digital examination processes.
