India strategy is about balancing innovation with safety, ensuring AI systems serve humanity without unnecessary restrictions that could slow down progress in vital sectors like healthcare and education. Looking ahead, India is actively shaping its 'AI Governance Framework (India)', with guidelines released by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), which emphasize accountability and transparency. The country also hosted the 'AI Impact Summit 2026' earlier this year to discuss practical ways to make AI safe and trustworthy, especially for the Global South. This approach suggests India believes that with proper human oversight and well-designed systems, AI can be a powerful tool for progress, rather than an uncontrollable threat.
