Noida Airport to Gurugram: Namo Bharat Rapid Rail DPR Advances, Set for Central Nod

A crucial step toward dramatically improving connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR) has been cleared: the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 64-kilometer Namo Bharat train corridor, linking Noida International Airport (NIA) to Gurugram via Faridabad, received approval from the Meerut Divisional Commissioner's committee on August 4-5, 2026. This nearly Rs 19,390 crore project is now moving to the Uttar Pradesh government for review before heading to the central government for final clearance. This new corridor is a game-changer for the recently operational Noida International Airport, which began domestic flights in June 2026, with international services set to commence around September 2026. It's also a key piece of a larger puzzle, designed to integrate with another proposed Namo Bharat line — the 72.44 km Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport corridor — at Surajpur. This ambitious plan by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) aims to form a comprehensive circular rapid rail network, allowing seamless, high-speed travel across key NCR cities and significantly cutting down travel times. Once it gets the green light from the central government, the project, with 51 kilometers in Haryana and 13 in Uttar Pradesh, is expected to kickstart construction, transforming daily commutes and boosting economic activity along its route. The focus now shifts to the UP government's swift review and the eagerly awaited final approval from the Centre, which will pave the way for a more integrated and accessible National Capital Region.
