Sarvam AI, the Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence startup, has secured a fresh $75 million (approximately ₹698 crore) in an extended Series B funding round, with chip giant Nvidia leading the charge. This crucial investment, also backed by US venture capital firm Glade Brook Capital, Gaja Capital, and Indigo Ventures, comes as part of Sarvam's larger $300-310 million Series B, which closed in June 2026 at a robust post-money valuation of $1.5 billion. Nvidia move signals a strategic shift from merely supplying hardware to becoming a key stakeholder in India's burgeoning AI ecosystem. This latest capital infusion is a big deal because it strengthens Sarvam AI mission to build an 'India-first' generative AI platform, focusing on the country's diverse languages and unique local challenges. The company, founded in 2023 by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, aims to foster linguistic and technological sovereignty for India, developing large language models (LLMs) and AI infrastructure that serve enterprises, developers, and even government agencies. Nvidia significant investment, including a $25 million stake, further tightens its bond with Sarvam, which already trains its AI models on Nvidia powerful GPUs. The additional funding propels Sarvam AI into its most compute-intensive phase, with ambitious plans to launch a trillion-plus parameter AI model within the next six months. This next-generation model will tackle complex applications in coding, cybersecurity, and scientific research. With access to 2,000 Blackwell GPUs and a target of 10,000, alongside a planned sovereign data center partnership with HCL Technologies in Odisha, Sarvam is now poised to shift its focus from fundraising to revenue generation, aiming to make its advanced AI offerings a utility for every Indian citizen.
