In a big move for India's clean energy goals, StarlinePS Enterprises Ltd. has put ₹160 Crore into Celloraa Energy Pvt. Ltd. to build a brand-new 1.2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Surat, Gujarat. This investment is a major step towards making India a global leader in renewable energy production and reducing its dependence on imported solar parts. This partnership aligns perfectly with India's ambitious push for domestic manufacturing under initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) vision. The country aims to significantly boost its solar cell manufacturing capacity, with targets reaching up to 80 GW by 2026, driven by strong government support and rising demand for clean electricity. Gujarat is already a major hub for renewable energy, attracting substantial investments. Looking ahead, Celloraa Energy is not stopping at 1.2 GW; they plan to expand the facility to 2.4 GW and eventually get into 'backward integration' by manufacturing silicon ingots and wafers, which are basic raw materials for solar cells. This means they want to control the entire process from start to finish, aiming to begin production by early 2027. This move will further strengthen India's solar supply chain, creating jobs and helping the nation achieve its clean energy dreams.
