Uttar Pradesh is making big strides in making healthcare easier for its people, with millions more getting their Ayushman card. Rampur district has been leading the way, giving out 1.79 lakh (179,000) cards in the last year alone, topping the state's annual assessment announced in October 2026. This huge effort is part of a wider push led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to ensure that no family faces a big money problem when someone gets sick. This growth isn't just in Rampur; a special campaign from May to August 2026 added over 20.48 lakh (2 million) new beneficiaries across the state. Jaunpur led this three-month drive, followed closely by Bareilly and Prayagraj, showing that healthcare help is spreading across different regions. The Ayushman Bharat scheme offers cashless treatment up to ₹5 lakh (500,000 Indian Rupees) per family each year for serious hospital treatments, helping families avoid falling into debt because of medical bills. With a new month-long campaign starting in November 2026 to reach even more eligible people, especially those over 70, the state is keen to expand this health safety net. While giving out cards is important, the real goal is to make sure people can actually get timely and easy medical care at the thousands of government and private hospitals that are part of the scheme. This ongoing push aims to build a 'Swastha-Saksham Uttar Pradesh,' meaning a healthy and capable Uttar Pradesh.
