Yanara just locked in a hefty EUR 150 million (about USD 171 million) investment from global asset manager Mirova to turbocharge its clean energy projects across Australia. This massive funding push will fuel the development of over 2 gigawatt (GW) of new solar, wind, and battery storage infrastructure in key states like Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia, marking a crucial step in the country's shift away from coal. At the heart of this expansion is Yanara flagship Mortlake Energy Hub in Victoria, a hybrid project combining a 450 MW solar farm with a powerful 600 MW / 2,400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This hub alone is expected to power 200,000 homes and slash carbon emissions by 880,000 tons annually. Australia energy market is at a crossroads, needing big investments like this to replace aging coal-fired power plants and keep up with rising electricity demand, even though policy uncertainty has made some investors hesitant. With the first phase of the Mortlake Energy Hub nearing construction, creating over 300 jobs, this deal signals a strong commitment to Australia renewable future. This investment not only expands Yanara already impressive 5.1 GW Asia-Pacific portfolio but also highlights a growing global appetite for robust, dispatchable clean energy solutions, setting a precedent for further sustainable infrastructure development across the region.
