Xbox Faces Major 'Reset' with Studio Closures, Game Cancellations, and Widespread Layoffs
Microsoft's Xbox division is undergoing a dramatic 'reset' this July, with widespread layoffs and the potential closure or sale of several prominent game studios. New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma's internal memo revealed the gaming unit is financially 'not healthy,' citing over $20 billion in spending over five years against declining revenue. The shake-up has put developers like Arkane Studios, Compulsion Games, Double Fine, Ninja Theory, and Undead Labs at risk, with some, like Arkane's Marvel's Blade and Undead Labs' State of Decay 3, facing possible cancellation despite recent public showcases.
