Nitin Gadkari announces Rs 50,000 crore infrastructure projects for Northeast
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has unveiled an ambitious infrastructure investment of over Rs 90,000 crore for India's Northeast, with a substantial Rs 50,000 crore specifically earmarked for Meghalaya, announced at the North East India Infrastructure Summit & Exhibition (NEIINFRA) 2026 in Shillong. This massive allocation, far exceeding initial reports, signals New Delhi's accelerated drive to transform the strategically vital border region into a robust economic gateway, enhancing regional connectivity and bolstering its Act East Policy.
