Goa Greenlights Lease-to-Freehold Conversion, Supercharging Industrial Land Ownership
In a pivotal move for industrial growth, the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) is on the cusp of rolling out a new policy allowing businesses to convert their 95-year leasehold industrial plots into freehold ownership. This significant reform aims to streamline land transactions and ease operational hurdles for industries in the state, aligning with the Union government's broader push for deregulation and ease of doing business. The GIDC board has already drafted amendments to existing state laws, paving the way for this transition from a long-term lease model to outright ownership.
