Diesel purchase curbs raise concerns for hospitals, IT parks, data centres
India's critical infrastructure sectors are bracing for operational shocks following a government directive on June 11, 2026, that bars industrial, commercial, and institutional consumers from purchasing diesel at retail petrol pumps. This urgent measure, limiting retail sales to 200 litres per customer daily, aims to curb fuel diversion caused by a stark ₹40 per litre price differential between bulk and retail diesel, but has inadvertently jeopardized uninterrupted power for hospitals, data centers, and IT parks.
