Assam's 2026-27 Budget Boosts Student Support with Rs 25,873 Crore Education Focus
The Assam government has unveiled a landmark Rs 2.85 lakh crore budget for 2026-27, with a massive Rs 25,873 crore earmarked for Education, Sports, Art, and Culture, signaling a strong commitment to student welfare and academic development across the state. Key announcements include a significant Rs 1,750 crore investment to bolster universities and support autonomous colleges, alongside the expansion of crucial student financial aid programs like the Jibon Prerana, Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Asoni, and Mukhyamantrir Nijut Babu Asoni schemes. These initiatives are set to provide direct financial assistance and fee waivers to lakhs of students, aiming to reduce dropout rates and enhance access to higher education.
