INS Mahendragiri Joins Indian Navy, Bolstering Self-Reliance and Naval Power
The Indian Navy today welcomed its newest and most advanced warship, INS Mahendragiri, into service in Visakhapatnam. This stealth frigate, the sixth of the Project 17A series, marks a significant leap for India's self-reliance in defence and is poised to boost the nation's maritime capabilities, especially in the strategically vital Indo-Pacific Region. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who presided over the commissioning, highlighted the warship's 75% indigenous content as a proud symbol of a 'self-confident India'.
